Daniel Albohn joined Sony in 2001 and conducted the initial assessment of the opportunity in the US market for "e-books" and "e-reading,” prospects for a dedicated reading device, and identification of content appropriate for the first generation of electronic ink displays. Dan forged Sony's relationships with thought leaders in the publishing community, established business terms with major trade book publishers, and worked with conversion service providers to optimize content enabling Sony to launch the Reader and e-Bookstore in September 2006. His current charge is to work with the library community whose digital initiatives are complemented by the Reader, with Academic and Professional publishers who have expressed interest in Sony’s initiative, and to identify new uses and collections of content for Reader.
